Redefining a Trusted Brand for Advocacy and Community Impact.

Disability Rights Michigan (DRM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for individuals with disabilities across the state of Michigan. Their team of advocates and lawyers helps individuals understand their rights, responsibilities, and how to advocate for their human, civil, and legal rights. DRM also has broad access authority to monitor institutions and provide support to residents with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.

The Challenge

DRM faced significant challenges with its branding and digital presence. Operating under the name Michigan Protection & Advocacy Service (MPAS), the organization found that its name caused confusion in the community. Their logo and website were outdated, lacked a trusted and supportive feel, and failed to connect emotionally with their audience.

The website itself was difficult to navigate, making it hard for users to find advocacy resources or understand the breadth of services offered. With no defined brand guide, messaging strategy, or user experience, DRM needed a comprehensive overhaul to strengthen its presence and fulfill its mission effectively.

The Solution

We worked closely with DRM to reimagine their brand and online presence, addressing key challenges with thoughtful and practical solutions. A new name, logo, and visual identity were created to reflect trust and approachability, supported by a comprehensive brand guide that established a clear, consistent voice.

To ensure their website was both functional and accessible, we designed a fully ADA-compliant platform with a straightforward navigation structure. Resources are now easier to locate, making it simpler for users to access the information they need. These improvements have led to a measurable increase in website traffic and engagement.

In addition, targeted social media and Google SEM advertising campaigns have helped DRM reach more individuals and communities in need of advocacy and support. These campaigns have not only extended their reach but also strengthened their connection with the people they serve.

With these updates, DRM has solidified its position as a trusted resource for advocacy, empowering individuals with disabilities and making a lasting impact in the community.
