Craft CMS & Laravel
We’re looking for a highly skilled, detail-driven Back-End Developer to join our growing team at Kmotion Design. You’ll play a key part in building, optimizing, and maintaining the systems that power high-performing web experiences (not native apps).
You’ll architect clean, scalable codebases, integrate APIs, and collaborate closely with our design and UX teams to ensure every build is as seamless under the hood as it looks on the surface. From CMS setup and database design to API connections and performance optimization, you’ll help create the infrastructure that makes our digital experiences exceptional.
This is a hands-on, collaborative role. You’ll work closely with project managers, front-end developers, and designers to bring ideas to life and help make technical decisions. This is a full-time remote role (US-based only), 8–5p EST.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Back-End Web Developer at Kmotion, you’ll take ownership of the systems and structures that make our designs come alive. You’ll work across platforms, CMS frameworks, and APIs to architect efficient, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Building and maintaining custom back-end architectures, primarily within Craft CMS, Laravel, and other PHP-based frameworks.
- Developing, integrating, and optimizing APIs for seamless data flow between systems.
- Collaborating with front-end and UX teams to ensure designs are translated into high-performing, accessible, and secure sites.
- Managing database architecture, deployment pipelines, and server configurations for optimal performance and scalability.
- Writing clean, modular, and well-documented code that aligns with industry best practices.
- Contributing to CMS component libraries and reusable system architecture.
- Performing testing, debugging, and optimization across multiple environments.
- Offering technical insights in discovery sessions, providing solutions that align with client goals and future scalability.
- Staying up-to-date on evolving frameworks, tools, and modern web standards.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional web development experience, with strong command of PHP, Craft CMS, and Laravel.
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC frameworks, and API integration.
- Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks such as React or VueJS.
- Working knowledge of front-end fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JS, Tailwind) to bridge full-stack collaboration.
- Experience with version control systems (Git), CI/CD, and deployment workflows.
Familiarity with modern frameworks (Vue, React, or similar) is a plus — but not required. - Understanding of hosting and deployment environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Docker.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, while engaging collaboratively with the broader team.
- A proactive problem-solver who values precision, structure, and continuous improvement.
