(Formative Assessment for Michigan Educators): Michigan Department of Education

FAME is a professional learning initiative sponsored by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) that promotes teacher collaboration and planning for effective formative assessment practice. A cadre of Michigan educators serves as coaches for site-based learning teams of teachers and administrators in Michigan schools. The site is a gated (login access) tool for gathering resources for educators. The sites structure consists of informational content pages as well a very robust on-site search feature to find pertinent resources for educators. The search page has many features to make the experience quick and resourceful. The page has search by name or keyword features, sorting, dynamic filtering, ability to share and download the resources, and the ability to bookmark resources.

Kmotion designed and built the site from the ground up using strict ADA compliancy for on-screen and screen reader compatibility. The site went through 6 different forms of testing and successfully achieved compliancy through the State of Michigan’s review process. The site also went through a full migration of new downloadable content that was converted to ADA standards, as well as all media files (transcribed videos). This project was a huge success and we continue to work with FAME on a monthly basis for site updates, continuous user testing, SEO and design enhancements.
